Bacteria, Algal Bloom on the Decline in Local Waters This Week

Bacteria levels in water bodies surveyed by the Concerned Citizens of Montauk were generally low this week, likely owing to limited rainfall. But eight of 24 sites surveyed in Montauk, Amagansett, Springs, and East Hampton showed medium or high levels of enterococcus.

Stony Brook Southampton Updates Hospital Visitation Policy

Water Report: 'Bacteria Levels Normalized'

Four of the 26 water bodies tested last week by Concerned Citizens of Montauk had high levels of the enterococcus bacteria, and three had medium levels. "Bacteria levels seem to have normalized at most of our sites, with the exception of a few of our typically problematic locations," Kate Rossi-Snook of C.C.O.M. wrote.
