From the science of eclipses to scientific poetry and everything in between, the Hamptons Observatory has been hosting astronomy talks since 2005, and its next one will look back at how astronomy impacted ancient Egyptian culture.

The virtual talk, on Wednesday at 7 p.m., will be led by Colleen Darnell, an Egyptologist who recently co-authored the first complete English translation of the hieroglyphics found in the tombs of the Valley of the Kings. Her research has covered the ways the stars and planets influenced spiritual beliefs, funerary rites, timekeeping, and art in that era of Egyptian history.

Co-hosted by Guild Hall, the talk is free and open to all. Tickets are available via Guild Hall's ticketing website here. More information can be found at hamptonsobservatory.com.
