‘Old Scam, With New Twist’

East Hampton Town police issued an alert on their Facebook page this week following an attempt to defraud a local resident. “It’s an old scam with a new twist,” Capt. Chris Anderson said on Tuesday.

A Merrils Road woman using the online selling service Wallop.com told police she was out two Michael Kors watches, after shipping them last month to a would-be buyer. MaryAnne Janetschek valued the watches at $950 together. The person had told her that payment was on its way via MoneyGram, she told police. Ms.

An East Hampton teenager spent six days in county jail last week after being arrested on a felony charge of criminal mischief.

Jordan A. Johnson, 17, a star player on East Hampton High School’s football team this past season, was charged by East Hampton Town police with the destruction of property.

A Montauk teen left her mother’s 2010 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck parked at a friend’s house off Pantigo Road Friday night as she joined a group of youths out for the evening. In the morning, the truck would not start. It was discovered that someone had poured Cascade dishwashing detergent into the gas tank.

Arrested on Way to Court

Michael T. Dolson of Sound Beach, 42, was on his way to East Hampton Town Justice Court last Thursday in connection with a June 2015 drunken-driving charge when police pulled him over and found he was driving without a valid license.

Manuel L. Tacuri-Inga of Springs, 54, faces two felony charges and a pair of less serious counts following his arrest on Feb. 2.

A 2009 Nissan parked in the lot north of Amagansett Main Street was vandalized by someone using a sharp instrument, possibly a key, overnight on Jan. 19. Two phrases in Spanish were scratched on the vehicle, which belongs Jorge Paucarpauta.

Local roads were relatively quiet last week, with only two men, both residents of Springs, pulled over by police and eventually charged with driving while intoxicated.
