East Hampton Village Board Mulls Term Limits, Marijuana

A proposal that would impose term limits on East Hampton Village's elected officials, a tentative budget for the next fiscal year, and the impact of the state's marijuana legalization were discussed at a village board meeting last Thursday. The board also announced that a public hearing will be held on Friday, May 21, on a proposal to convert parallel parking spaces to angled, drive-in ones on parts of Newtown Lane.

Instead of a Gala, Intimate Dinners for Bay Street

In celebration of its 30th anniversary, Bay Street Theater will hold a series of outdoor fund-raising dinners through the late spring and summer. Tracey Mitchell, the executive director, and her husband Blaze Makoid, an architect, will host one featuring a performance by Richard Kind, an actor, at 7 p.m. on June 10 (rain date June 11). The cost is $2,500 per person, and only 28 seats are available. 

Carole Ann George, 73

Carole Ann George, familiar here from her jobs at the I.G.A. markets in Amagansett and East Hampton, died of cardiac arrest at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond, Va., on March 8. She was 73 and had been ill for two years.
