Lois H. Kleinberg’s cat woke her up at 5:45 a.m. and she smelled smoke. Through her window she saw flames shooting from her neighbor’s roof. When she and her husband ran outside, embers were landing on their roof and deck.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on a sex abuse charge Thursday, accused of inappropriately touching a 9-year-old girl, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office said in East Hampton Town Justice Court. 

Wilson Rolando-Morales, a native Ecuadorian who had been living in East Hampton for three years, surrendered on Thursday morning, his attorney, John O'Brien of Noyac, said. Mr. O'Brien entered a plea of not guilty on his client's behalf.

A 56-year-old man with a history of drunken driving was slapped with several charges on Saturday afternoon, including a felony under Leandra’s Law, after East Hampton Town police reported finding him driving while intoxicated in Amagansett with two teenagers in the car.
