This is an original copy of a letter Robert Townsend, a Manhattan and Oyster Bay merchant, and his brother, Solomon Townsend, sent to two Charleston, S.C., merchants regarding an antislavery matter in 1787. 

Sharon S. Rack, the head of custodial workers for East Hampton Town, died of heart failure on Monday at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital. The East Hampton native was 70 and had been ill for a month.

Dr. Gail Schonfeld of East End Pediatrics will run a youth vaccine clinic this weekend in response to the federal government's May 10 announcement expanding emergency use athorization for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to include adolescents 12 to 15 years of age. Previously, children had to be 16 or over to receive shots.
