Thank You All

    Springs

    November 10, 2013

Dear David,

It was a long campaign but, for me, thankfully, very worthwhile. I am happy to have won a seat on our town board and I’d like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all of the East Hampton voters who took time out of their day to go to the polls and vote for me.

Alcohol City

    Springs

    December 20, 2013

To the Editor,

Okay, if you read The East Hampton Star this week under “Notices,” next to the last page there is a notice that a license is pending for beer and wine to sell retail in a sports arena under the Alcoholic Beverage Control Law at 385 Abraham’s Path in Amagansett.

Well, folks, for your information, this is the indoor arena at the Terry King ballfield, a place originally set up for the youngsters of our community.

Close Calls at Sea

    Amagansett

    December 15, 2013

To the Editor,

As one dragger captain said, “We all have had our close calls at sea.”

The morning Billy and I left the dock on Billy the Kid to join the search for John from the Anna Mary is a day none of us will ever forget. Every boat has its own story to tell. When you are looking for someone in the ocean it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack. The debris out there — balloons, garbage — every little thing catches your eye.

Ned’s Still With Us

    Springs

    December 6, 2013

Dear Editor:

I was delighted to see the town’s nature preserve committee is trying to preserve the remains and honor of “Ned, Faithful negro manservant of Capt. Jeremiah Osborn.”

Back in 2009, the nature preserve committee was tasked with finding and documenting every known cemetery and gravesite in East Hampton Town.
