Dance Party

The Southampton Arts Center will get a jump on New Year’s Eve with a dance party of ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s music on Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m. The host of Saturday Night Stomp is the center’s D.J. in residence, Mister Lama, who will be celebrating not only the advent of 2020 but also his birthday.

Known as Carlos Lama when not at the turntables, the native Texan with Peruvian roots is also a singer, vinyl enthusiast, occasional actor, and was, for several years, manager of Innersleeve Records in Amagansett. With his band Cracked Actor he has paid tribute to David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, Leon Russell, and other music icons, and he has put together soundtracks for installations and art events at the Parrish Art Museum, the Sag Harbor Whaling Museum, and the Contemporary Arts Museum in Houston, among others.

Tickets are $15, $10 for members, and complimentary refreshments will be available.

Walls of Melody

Whale/Heart, a band self-described as “about beards, beers, and Bowie,” will perform on Saturday at 8 p.m. as part of the Wamponamon Masonic Music Series at the Sag Harbor Whaling Museum. The audience can expect “music that sounds like a tin can rattling around inside an intergalactic trash can . . . sonic walls of melody, warped jazz influences, and suburban basement rock focused through the lens of outer space,” according to a release.

Tickets are $20, and proceeds will benefit local charities.
