Avenues: The World School, a for-profit independent school that set up a small "studio" campus last summer at the Hampton Country Day Camp in East Hampton, this week announced that it will remain there for another school year.
In an initial effort to oversee local Covid-19 vaccinations, East Hampton Town opened a vaccination clinic at the former Child Development Center of the Hamptons Building on Saturday and provided shots to 332 residents, including first responders, teachers, and people who work in food and grocery stores.
At its nominating convention Wednesday night, the East Hampton Democratic Committee snubbed Councilman Jeff Bragman, a Democratic incumbent who has frequently clashed with his colleagues, and instead endorsed Cate Rogers, the committee’s chairwoman, for his seat on the town board.
In the last week, the shiny halo that many New Yorkers had thought hovered above Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s head may have dulled a little as it became clear that he had withheld data about Covid-19 deaths in nursing homes and then refused to answer questions about it. More than 15,000 people have died from Covid-19 in the state’s nursing homes and long-term care facilities. At one point last August, when the Legislature and state attorney general asked for information, Mr. Cuomo decided to keep the toll secret.
