A Marriage of Minds

Pulling up family and profession­al roots in upstate New York to live closer to the ocean in 1999, Richard and Rosanne Barons settled into a three-bedroom house in Springs that had been built as a small summer cottage. Over time they transformed it into a serene oasis filled with carefully chosen treasures, each with a story of its own.

Barbara Oeffner, 74

Barbara Oeffner, an East Hampton native and a 10th-generation descendant of Nathaniel Dominy, one of the town’s early settlers renowned for his woodworking and clockmaking skills, died on Jan. 24 in Moore Haven, Fla. She was 74.

The Mannix Studio of Art will lead family tours and action-painting workshops at the Pollock-Krasner House and Studio in Springs on Thursdays and Fridays through Sept. 6. After learning some background on the Abstract Expressionists Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner, participants will have a chance to paint a canvas in Pollock’s style.
