One Stop, Two Charges

Thu, 02/02/2023 - 10:34

Christopher Mackie of Bay Shore, 36, was hit with two felony charges last Thursday, one for driving while intoxicated and the other for driving with a revoked license.

East Hampton Town police said they spotted his 2019 Dodge Ram in the early evening, driving without headlights after dark. After he failed roadside sobriety tests, they said, they checked his record and determined that he had previous D.W.I. convictions within the past 10 years, and that he did not have a legal driver’s license.

In fact, police reported, Mr. Mackie’s driving privileges have been suspended or revoked six times dating back to 2008. He was remanded without bail to the county jail.

Braulio Ingatacuri, 29, of Montauk was driving a 2016 Ford pickup on Abraham’s Path in Amagansett on the evening of Jan. 24 when the car swerved several times across the road, police said. He too failed the standardized field-sobriety tests, and was charged with first-offense drunken driving and aggravated drunken driving, also a first offense, both misdemeanors. The second charge alleges that Mr. Ingatacuri’s blood-alcohol content was found to be .18 of 1 percent or higher, over twice the legal limit.
