Bicyclist Injured While Questioning Driver

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 15:21

Sag Harbor Village police were flagged down by a bicyclist on Saturday and told that a driver on Division Street had failed to yield to his right of way, forcing him into another lane of traffic. He said he was able to stabilize himself after another car passed him, sending him back into his original lane.

Finn Li, the cyclist, told police he was angered by the driver's actions and pedaled up next to her S.U.V.'s window, knocking on it and trying to get her to pull over.

Mr. Li then fell off his bicycle when another car approached, injuring his arm and hip and damaging his bicycle. He was able to get an Uber ride home after the incident.

Also in Sag Harbor, police were called about a village resident whose car had rolled into a passenger when the driver stepped out to close the garage door at a house on Madison Street on Friday.

While trying to get into a rear door, the passenger, Stephanie Louise, was knocked down by the moving vehicle, which had rolled backward. She told police the car would have continued to roll if the front door, which was still open, had not become caught on a metal fence along the driveway.

Nearby construction workers were able to help Ms. Louise off the ground. Police said she was walking around the car when they arrived on the scene. An ambulance crew evaluated Ms. Louise, but she refused medical attention.

Catching Sex Offenders a ‘Multidisciplinary’ Effort

As reports of crimes of a sexual nature have apparently increased, those cases have drawn attention — not only because of their brutality, but also because allegations of abuse strike at deeply held assumptions about safety in a place that has seen itself as insulated from such offenses.
