Proposals to create property maintenance requirements for East Hampton Village landowners, to allow the construction of cellars that extend beyond the exterior wall of a residence, and to establish the position of "village constable" will receive public hearings before the village board on Oct. 15.
Seeking to speed up the process of developing a sewage treatment system for East Hampton Village, the village board on Friday hired a new consultant to oversee the project.
The facility regularly harvested an average of 10 tons of ice daily and relied on a ground-cork-insulated ice box to maintain the product. With increasing trouble from warming winters, Duryea's updates included the purchase of an Atlas-Imperial engine for $4,500, in order to produce ice when it could not be harvested.
