Drew Smith, the newly appointed captain of East Hampton Village's lifeguards, has brought new life to Main Beach in particular and the the sandy stretch from Georgica to Two Mile Hollow in general.

The 73rd Artists and Writers Softball Game is to be contested at East Hampton's Herrick Park on Saturday at 2 p.m. Batting practice starts at noon. 

It was a wild and confusing finish Sunday at Ellen's Run, the 5K in Southampton that raises money to fight breast cancer.

Thanks to Mark Danieli, a travel team for 7-to-9-year-olds can be found practicing two evenings a week at one of East Hampton Little League's Pantigo diamonds.
