New Italian on Race Lane

For the first time in its 15-year history on Greenwich Village’s Mulberry Street, Rubirosa restaurant, which New York magazine has called “a nouveau, populist paean to all things red sauce,” is expanding. Camp Rubirosa, a seasonal pop-up, will open this weekend at the former home of the Laundry on Race Lane in East Hampton and remain there through mid-September.

The restaurant is known for its “tie dye” pizza, house-made pastas, fresh seafood, and what the magazine called “a top-tier chicken Parm.” It is a collaboration between Maria Pappalardo, the owner of Rubirosa, and Brian Bedol, the restaurateur behind Sag Harbor Tavern.

Spring Specials at Almond

Almond restaurant in Bridgehampton will offer a two-course prix fixe for $39 Monday through Wednesday nights all night and Friday and Saturday between 5 and 6:30. In addition, a two-course meatless $39 prix fixe is available on Mondays, a burger and a beer can be had for $25 on Tuesdays, bottomless mussels and fries for $25 on Wednesdays, and ramen for $29 on Thursdays. Karaoke with D.J. Mr. Lama happens on Saturdays at 9:30 p.m.

Wine Classes

Park Place Wines and Liquors in East Hampton will launch its summer wine classes next Thursday at 6 p.m. with the Great Italians, North vs. South: Different as Night and Day. In the north, the cool climate fosters the crisp whites of Friuli and the brooding reds of the Piedmont, according to the shop, but “Campania brings the juicy swagger, while Sicily and Sardinia go full earthy, ancient, and absolutely delicious.”

Food pairings are provided by East Hampton’s the Cookery. Tickets are $45 and nonrefundable.

Tusk Bar Pop-Up

The Tusk Bar at Manhattan’s Evelyn Hotel was named one of the best bars in America by Esquire magazine in 2024. This weekend, with an oyster station and a rotation of cocktails by Tristan Brunel, its mixologist, the Tusk Bar will take over the front bar space at Moby’s in East Hampton. The pop-up is part of the restaurant’s decision to bring the best of New York’s cocktail scene out east, with other partners set to join later in the summer.

Golden Pear Catering

The Golden Pear, with locations in East Hampton, Bridgehampton, and Southampton, is now accepting catering orders for the summer. Delivery is available seven days a week from Westhampton to Montauk; all orders require a minimum of 48 hours advance notice. Available platters include Asian-style grilled chicken satay, mini lobster rolls, stuffed focaccia sandwiches, roasted filet of beef medallions, Southwest dips and chips, seared sesame tuna, and more. The venue’s chef is available to help build menus.

New at Solé East

The restaurant at Solé East Resort in Montauk has been reimagined as Sea Salt, a new eatery helmed by Melissa O’Donnell, who has earned five Michelin Bib Gourmand awards over the course of her career. Her New York restaurants have included Stella, Salt, Salt Bar, Thelma on Clinton, and, most recently, Seven Seeds at the Williamsburg Hotel in Brooklyn.

The Mediterranean-inspired menu at Sea Salt will feature such dishes as octopus confit with fava Santorini, an array of Mediterranean dips including labneh and red pepper feta, and local fish served in a traditional bouillabaisse.
