Spring Market at St. Luke’s

Share the Harvest Farm will host its Spring Market on Saturday from 10 to 2 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church’s Hoie Hall in East Hampton. The event will feature local vendors, food artisans, fresh flowers, live music by Chris Kline, and raffles, all in support of the nonprofit’s mission to fight food insecurity on the East End.

Among the vendors are Ocean Fog Farm, Jamagansett, Kym Fulmer, Il Buco, Hamptons Preserves, Two Sisters Nuts and Seeds, South Shore Mushrooms, Montauk Smoked Fish, Aki’s Kitchen, and many others.

Participating vendors will donate 15 percent of their proceeds to Share the Harvest Farm, helping to provide fresh, organically grown produce to over a thousand families each week through local food pantries and community partners.

Cinco de Mayo

La Fondita in Amagansett will celebrate Cinco de Mayo on Monday with traditional specials, while supplies last. The specials, subject to change, are three types of tamales: filled with chicken in a green sauce; filled with pork in a red sauce, and filled with sautéed poblano, jalapeño peppers, and Monterey Jack cheese, all served with rice, whole black beans, and salad. Tamales are also available without sides.

Also on offer will be chiles en nogada, a poblano pepper filled with Monterey Jack cheese and topped with walnut cream sauce and pomegranate seeds, served with rice, refried beans, and tortillas.

Montauk Wild Oysters

Paul Brooke, founder of Montauk Wild Oysters and an ocean guide with more than 20 years of experience, is offering two alternatives to the ubiquitous happy hour special of Montauk Pearl Oysters on the half shell -- not that there’s anything wrong with them.

Experience one is Montauk Wild Oyster Shucking and Perfect Pairings, which includes a dozen freshly harvested oysters served chilled over ice; classic accompaniments, including sliced lemons, cocktail sauce, horseradish, and Tabasco; an oyster shucking tutorial, and service on a crisp white linen tablecloth. The price for one to three people is $300 per person for the one-hour session. Larger groups can be accommodated; more information is on the website.

The second experience is Montauk Snorkel and Wild Oyster Foraging. Mr. Brooke will lead a single participant, equipped with snorkel and mask and optional wetsuit, on a guided expedition to forage for wild oysters. After the per person limit of 24 oysters is reached, the participant will return to shore, where Mr. Brooke will demonstrate the art of oyster shucking and share his knowledge of Montauk’s maritime heritage.

Time slots are available at noon and 2 p.m. from May 15 through Oct. 15. The cost is $350.

Reopenings

Bostwick’s on the Harbor in Springs is opening Thursday at 5 p.m. and will be open for now Thursday through Sunday evenings.

Its nearby neighbor Rita Cantina will open its doors Friday at 4 p.m. The restaurant will be open Thursdays through Sundays, and Wednesday, too, after Memorial Day. It will also be open this Monday in celebration of Cinco de Mayo. Happy hour oysters and Rita margaritas can be had from 4 to 6.
