The East Hampton Fire Department put recent ice rescue training into action on Monday when a dog fell through the ice at Hook Pond.

In the first of two rounds of Covid-19 testing at the Springs School, there were no positive results in the 55 people tested, the school district announced Monday.

Following the county's okay of certain "high-risk" school sports, East Hampton High's boys and girls basketball teams and Bridgehampton's boys team are set to play games, but East Hampton's wrestling team will work out only intramurally this year and will not compete with against other teams.

Representative Lee Zeldin often touts the fact that an index determined by the Lugar Center and McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University ranks him as the 12th most bipartisan member of the House. This week, 259 of his constituents asked the center to exclude him and others who voted against certification of the electoral votes from its next Bipartisan Index.

East End real estate sales hit historic highs in the final months of 2020 according to fourth quarter reports from several agencies. Across the region, from Montauk to Westhampton, a "massive increase" in home buying resulted in more than $1.6 billion in sales during the quarter, an "unprecedented" 124-percent increase over the same period in 2019, according to one real estate agency.

Organizacion Latino-Americana of Eastern Long Island has been chosen as the New York State Project HOPE provider for the East End and now has two crisis counselor teams able to offer assistance in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

When chairwoman of the Springs Citizens Advisory Committee asked on the "Springs Dog Park" Facebook page last month whether changes were necessary at the park — not officially a dog park according to its East Hampton Town land management plan — the reply was a loud chorus of 'nos" from dog owners. 

Appellate judges reversed much of a 2016 State Supreme Court decision on Wednesday, ruling that property owners along a stretch of ocean beach on Napeague known as Truck Beach do, in fact, own the beach. On Friday, the town said it would appeal or move to condemn that stretch.

Nissa Larsen, a local gymnastics pro, is offering private one-hour lessons at home for $125 per child and $25 for each additional child. Perfect for getting out any pent-up quarantine energy, said Ms. Larsen, who wants kids to "get creative with exercise."
