Three historical sites in Amagansett will offer special events on Saturday for a formal observance of the hamlet’s maritime heritage.
Kids Culture 10.10.19
On Sunday at 2:30 p.m., the library will host a story time with cookies for all ages. Spooky slime will be the project of the day for kids in sixth grade and up on Tuesday from 3:30 to 5 p.m., and pumpkin decorating is in store during a family activity on Friday, Oct. 18, at 4 p.m.
Wed at the Trapp Family Lodge
Victoria Haller, the daughter of Dr. Eugene Z. Haller of Budapest and Margaret Wickers of Springs, was married to Phillip Marino on Sept. 13 on the concert meadow at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vt.
On the Police Logs 10.10.19
Police received word of a possibly intoxicated man standing on the sidewalk near Ocean Avenue and James Lane on the afternoon of Sept. 30. An officer spoke to a 52-year-old man who said he has arthritis, making it difficult to walk. There were no problems.
Phyllis Newman, 86, Actress and Advocate
Phyllis Newman, a Tony Award-winning actress and founder of the Women’s Health Initiative of the Actors Fund, died of primary pulmonary hypertension at her Manhattan home on Sept. 15.
Downed Tree Closes East Hampton Main Street
A portion of Main Street/Route 27 in East Hampton Village is closed to traffic in both directions on Thursday after a large tree fell across the road.
James Salant, 35
James Salant, an author who lived in Springs as a young boy and returned often to stay with grandparents in Amagansett, died of a heart attack on Aug. 25 in Brooklin, Me.
Gerald Brenner, 90
Gerald Brenner, a former sales manager for fashion designers, died of a diabetes-related infection at home in East Hampton on Saturday.
Ernest Clark Jr., 94
Ernest Clark Jr., a former owner of the E.T. Dayton Insurance and Real Estate Agency in East Hampton, died of congestive heart failure at the Moorings Park health care facility in Naples, Fla., on Sept. 25. He was 94.

A funeral service for Joanne Conforti of East Hampton will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. at Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel at 1076 Madison Avenue in Manhattan. Her ashes will be buried at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in East Hampton.
