State Office for New Americans Offers Tips on What to Do If Encountered by Immigration Officials

Following reports that the Trump's administration was planning raids across the country to arrest undocumented immigrants, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo's Office for New Americans offered tips earlier this week on what to do if federal immigration enforcement authorities arrive at people's homes or workplaces or approach them in public.

Bridgehampton Loam, Good as Gold

The mound of earth behind the Bridgehampton School is one of the biggest John Daniels has seen in his lifetime on the East End.

Some 10 feet tall and four or five times as long, it’s not just any old pile of dirt. It is Bridgehampton loam, and it might as well be a pile of gold.

“It’s the best soil in the whole country,” Mr. Daniels, the school’s maintenance mechanic, said this week. “You can’t find soil like this anywhere else.”

Water Worries at Ditch Plain

An East Hampton Town official and a representative of Concerned Citizens of Montauk both confirmed this week that they have received reports of foul odors at Ditch Plain and people experiencing skin, eye, and sinus irritation after taking a dip in the water there in the last two to three weeks.
