To Deter Speeding on Town Roads

Thu, 04/20/2023 - 11:04

The East Hampton Town Police Department responded this week to multiple calls about speeding drivers on residential streets.

On Whooping Hollow Road, which has been impacted by detours around ongoing drainage work on nearby Stephen Hand’s Path, officers placed an electronic radar sign on April 12 to deter speeding.

Another “speed-enforcement request,” in the words of the department, was filed by a resident of Gardiner Avenue in Springs, who reported on April 10 that help is needed there “all hours of the day.”

A resident of Hand’s Creek Road reported people “driving at excessive rates of speed in the morning and afternoon hours” near Wooded Oak Lane on April 12, and a similar report came in from a Gould Street resident on Friday.
