Update, Dec. 18: The East Hampton Town Police Department said Friday morning that Route 114 has been reopened after PSEG replaced the downed utility pole.

Originally, Dec. 17: Route 114 near Whooping Hollow Road in East Hampton was closed because of a downed utility pole that fell Thursday morning. There were no injuries, according to East Hampton Town police, and PSEG Long Island was working to repair the damage.

According to Elizabeth Flagler, head of internal and external communications as PSEG Long Island, it appeared that heavy snow and wind had damaged the pole. “At this time, there aren’t any customers affected. When crews arrive, they may need to take an intentional outage to make the area safe to complete repairs,” she said Thursday afternoon.

The road was to be closed until two poles are replaced and the wires rehung.
