Barbara Layton announced she will close Babette's restaurant on Sunday after 27 years, cocktail party at Manna, specials at La Fondita and Union Burger Bar

The South Fork Commuter Connection, a system of trains and shuttles that many people use in lieu of cars to travel to work here, will not operate its usual Long Island Rail Road trains between Tuesday and Thursday this week because of track work planned by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. 

The Montauk Chamber of Commerce's 40th Fall Festival, two days of food, live music, and fun for the kids, will be held on the downtown green on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. At the Montauk Lighthouse, the Kings of the Coast Pirates will put on shows filled with mayhem and misadventure at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
