The Coast Guard on Friday came to the aid of a man who was experiencing chest pains and numbness and tingling in his left arm while aboard a cable-laying vessel off the coast of Montauk.

Shortly before 9 a.m., according to a Coast Guard statement, watchstanders with the Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound command center received notification from the vessel, called the Decisive, that a man was in need of medical assistance.
