Take Note of This Date

    Montauk

    April 15, 2013

To the Editor:

Citizens for Access Rights is a grassroots, nonpolitical organization whose genesis was in response to the public access to our shorelines being threatened.

Emergency Preparedness

    East Hampton

    August 4, 2013

Many of us lost power for days, even weeks, and had no idea of where to go to charge our phones, replenish water containers, or find bathrooms. Not everyone was aware of the Red Cross shelter at the high school, and so it was underutilized.

To the Editor:

Yesterday in Montauk, while many vacationers were enjoying our beaches, restaurants, and clubs, locals were holding their breath. One of our own fishermen was missing at sea. I was doing my morning swim when eight Coast Guard helicopters flew overhead. I got a very bad feeling in the pit of my stomach.
