Positive Campaign Montauk November 13, 2011 Dear David, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the community for making my first venture into seeking an elected office a very positive experience.

Thanks, Amagansett Amagansett November 4, 2011 Dear David, How wonderful that we live in communities that still have hometown qualities. In Amagansett on Halloween, the major road, Montauk Highway, was closed to traffic.
Outstanding East Hampton October 28, 2011 To the Editor, Tom Lawrence, East Hampton Village’s chief code enforcement officer and building inspector, is an outstanding citizen and public servant. Knowledgeable, organized, community-oriented, and dedicated, he goes about difficult work with little recognition or thanks.
People First Montauk October 23, 2011 To the Editor, I am writing you this letter to thank Joe Bloecker and Larry Penny for all their help with my daughter Dorothy’s Girl Scout silver project. He and Larry are what is good about our East Hampton government. They put people first as all our officials should. On Election Day I hope the people in our community come out and vote for Joe Bloecker.
Never Forgot East Hampton October 16, 2011 To the Editor, In 1999 it was my good fortune to meet Ted Dragon. I went to his home to look at furniture for reupholstery. We ended up reupholstering all of his living room furniture. He chose beautiful velvets in different jewel tones. We even reupholstered the unusual tete-a-tete Texas longhorn love seat that I later learned was left to him by Lee Krasner.
Acted so Quickly East Hampton October 5, 2011 To the Editor, East Hampton High School was great. I just wanted to thank the staff and students of East Hampton High School for the way they acted so quickly on Friday, Sept. 23. My son had a medical emergency and everyone impressed me on how well the emergency was taken care of. He is doing much better, so thank you, E.H.H.S. students and faculty, and E.M.T.s who responded.
Wonderful Community East Hampton October 3, 2011 Dear Editor, The family of Katherine Myers Penati wishes to thank everyone in this wonderful community for their outpouring of love, kindness, and generosity in our time of grief. We would especially like to thank Mr. Tom Connors, Katherine’s longtime companion, and Mr. and Mrs. J. Bates, for their generous support.
Vote Yes Amagansett September 26, 2011 Dear David, Amagansett residents are fortunate in this day and age to live in a community that has a volunteer fire department. These professional and dedicated volunteers respond to fires and medical emergencies that put our lives at risk. The Amagansett Fire Department has an opportunity to purchase the adjacent Pacific East property for future expansion, when needed.
Choice of Dates Amagansett September 12, 2011 Dear David, I just became aware of the 30th annual Fall Festival, supported by the Montauk Chamber of Commerce, being held on Oct. 8 and 9 in Montauk. Paul Monte, owner of Gurney’s Inn, heads the chamber. Friday evening, Oct. 7, through Saturday evening, Oct. 8, is the most holy of the Jewish holidays, Yom Kippur — a day of fasting! This festival has scheduled its chowder contest on that day. It’s hard to believe that Mr.
At No Cost East Hampton September 5, 2011 Dear Editor, The Community Council of the Town of East Hampton would like to acknowledge the generosity of John Werwaiss for his generous gift of 1,400 gallons of fuel oil to eight families in need within our community. Delivery of the fuel oil was graciously facilitated by Andrew Jurkiewicz of East Hampton Fuel Oil Corporation. Mr.
Let Us Not Forget Montauk September 4, 2011 Dear Editor: It has been 10 years since the terrorist attacks on our country. At the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and in the field in Pennsylvania many innocent lives were lost. Let us remember those brave firemen and policemen who risked and lost their lives trying to rescue the victims. Let us fly the American flag proudly as we did just after the attacks. Do you remember our flag flew along the highways, on overpasses, and from homes and businesses?
Our Heritage East Hampton August 23, 2011 To the Editor, Milton Miller was the guest speaker at the Springs Historical Society on Sunday, Aug. 21, and treated us with his accounts of growing up in Amagansett. Born 92 years ago, his memories of growing up back then were enlightening and entertaining. Hugh King, as the interviewer, sparked memories of Milt’s life and touched on his many memories of fishing, schooling, and making do, from the 1920s on. It was a lifestyle of strong community bonds and helpfulness.
