Talented Performers

    East Hampton

    January 1, 2012

Dear David,

I would like to thank all of the talented performers who participated in the Young at Heart concert at St. Luke’s Church on Friday. The night was very successful due to the amazing musicians who sang and played their instruments. The audience that was present, as well as myself, were captivated and in awe for the entire show. It was a great reminder of how gifted our young people are. It was a night to remember and one that made me proud to be a member of St.

Pulled Together

    East Hampton

    January 7, 2012

Dear David,

A search-and-recovery operation does not just happen. We have well-trained people in the Springs Fire Department and East Hampton Town police and Sag Harbor dive teams. There were many rescuers on the water recently, and we should be proud of them all. But at this point I would like to talk about our marine patrol, dive team, and ocean rescue team.

Training that does not fall short when the emergency hits is not to be taken for granted.

Before I Knew

    East Hampton

    January 2, 2011

Dear David,

I just want to thank the person who found my pocketbook and gave it to a Waldbaum’s employee. I had it back even before I knew it was gone. You made my new year’s!

Money Is Hanging

    East Hampton

    December 5, 2011

To the Editor,

It emerges from news of a federal investigation that many paintings, that sold for as much as $17 million as the work of such East End artists as Jackson Pollock and Robert Motherwell, might well be fakes.

Near Disaster

    East Hampton

    November 14, 2011

Dear Mr. Rattray,

Just a public note of thanks to the folks at Spring Close restaurant on Pantigo Road in East Hampton: While enjoying a scrumptious repast and delightful dining experience, one of our family members found herself choking on food. Due to the loving kindness and quick responses of an owner, Colin Keillor, three people who happened to be there as well — an emergency medical worker, Ms. Field, Dr. Brower, and Lt.

    November 4, 2011

Dear David,

How wonderful that we live in communities that still have hometown qualities.

Outstanding

    East Hampton

    October 28, 2011

To the Editor,

Tom Lawrence, East Hampton Village’s chief code enforcement officer and building inspector, is an outstanding citizen and public servant.

Knowledgeable, organized, community-oriented, and dedicated, he goes about difficult work with little recognition or thanks.

People First

    Montauk

    October 23, 2011

To the Editor,

I am writing you this letter to thank Joe Bloecker and Larry Penny for all their help with my daughter Dorothy’s Girl Scout silver project. He and Larry are what is good about our East Hampton government. They put people first as all our officials should.

On Election Day I hope the people in our community come out and vote for Joe Bloecker.

Never Forgot

    East Hampton

    October 16, 2011

To the Editor,

In 1999 it was my good fortune to meet Ted Dragon. I went to his home to look at furniture for reupholstery. We ended up reupholstering all of his living room furniture. He chose beautiful velvets in different jewel tones. We even reupholstered the unusual tete-a-tete Texas longhorn love seat that I later learned was left to him by Lee Krasner.
