Charlotte in Brilliant Color

“Charlotte Park: The Life Forms of Color,” now at the Parrish Art Museum, includes more than 70 paintings and works on paper, drawn exclusively from the 2017 gift to the museum by the James and Charlotte Brooks Foundation. Kaitlin Halloran, associate curator and publications manager, will lead a tour of the show tomorrow at 3 p.m.

Overshadowed by the attention given to the work of Brooks, her husband, Park kept a fairly low profile over the course of her career while painting some of the strongest and most brilliantly colored canvases of her time. Color and form, often related to the living environment surrounding the Springs studio she shared with her husband, were strong and constant forces in her work.

Tickets are $30, $24 for senior citizens, $12 for members’ guests, $10 for resident benefits passholders, and free for students and children.

Artists on Their Work

“East End Collected 8,” a show of painting, sculpture, drawings, prints, photography, video, and glass fusion by 28 area artists, is at the Southampton Arts Center through May 4. On Saturday afternoon at 3, five of the artists, John Battle, Robin Gianis, Mary Jaffe, Mica Marder, and Setha Low, will be in the galleries to talk about their work.

The talk is free.
