Russ and Daughters
Next up in Guild Hall's culinary Stirring the Pot series are Niki Russ Federman and Josh Russ Tupper, fourth-generation owners of Russ & Daughters, who will be interviewed Sunday morning at 11 by Florence Fabricant, the New York Times food writer and critic.
In 1907, Joel Russ, a Jewish immigrant, landed in New York City, where he took a pushcart of herring and built a legacy that continues to thrive on the Lower East Side, as well as at three other locations throughout the city.
Federman and Tupper will share stories from their family's iconic Lower East Side shop, covering a century of smoked fish, bagels, and New York food culture. They will also discuss their new book, "Russ & Daughters: 100 Years of Appetizing." In addition to 100 recipes, the book includes anecdotes and guides to such famous offerings as smoked salmon, sable, sturgeon, herring, and caviar.
The talk will be followed by a book signing. A complimentary breakfast will be served at 10. Tickets are $54.
