East Hampton Village will be trick-or-treat central on Friday. Costumed kids have been invited to make the rounds of the downtown shops between 3 and 5 p.m. (usually an activity for younger children). Later, from 4 to 8, village police will close McGuirk Street, Cooper Lane, Conklin Terrace, and Sherrill Road to all but local traffic as the costumed masses descend for the late-afternoon and early evening revelry.

Extra lights will be set up and police will patrol on foot and bicycle.

Coast Guard Station Montauk will host its second annual haunted house on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. Free (and alcohol-free), it will offer boat tours, arts and crafts, and food and drink for purchase via cash or PayPal. All donations will support the Long Island chapter of the United States Coast Guard’s Chief Petty Officers Association, a nonprofit veterans service organization.

The Montauk Chamber of Commerce’s Halloween Pumpkin Trail will take place Friday afternoon from 3 to 5, during which costume-clad children will be able to trick-or-treat at any business with a Pumpkin Trail sign in its window.
