Montauk

Police responded to the 7-Eleven about a report of two intoxicated individuals at around noon on Saturday. After arriving, they saw a car parked in a handicap spot with no tag displayed. Noticing that the men were in no condition to drive, police “secured” the car.

Sag Harbor

A woman reported a “rather unpleasant aroma in the air” near Main Street on Saturday at around noon. An officer informed the woman that the smell was likely coming from the nearby sewage plant. The woman disagreed, claiming she is “very experienced in these smells,” and asked the officer to search each garbage can for a dead deer. The officer assured her that the garbage is emptied daily.

The next evening, a man on Long Island Avenue reported juveniles throwing objects at passing vehicles. Police found the children, who said that they were indeed throwing marshmallows at passing cars. They left the area after being informed of the danger of throwing things at moving vehicles.

Springs

A Lotus Avenue woman reported an incident with her “neighbor’s caretaker” on the afternoon of Sept. 23. The woman pointed her finger at her face, the caretaker said, so she had pushed the woman away. Neither person was injured during the confrontation.

A man called police on the evening of Sept. 25 to say that two unknown people were on his boat at the Head of the Harbor. Police arrived and found one man in the boat. He told police that a friend had said the boat belonged to him, so he had been in it for the past few days. The friend returned and told police it “looked like a nice boat,” according to the report, so the two had been “hanging out” on it. The outcome was blacked out on the police report.

A woman who lives on Gardiner Avenue woman reported receiving five counterfeit $2 bills while selling eggs on the morning of Sept. 15. Police said the bills looked legitimate.

Wainscott

Police filed a larceny report after a woman had her Kate Spade wallet stolen while shopping at HomeGoods on the afternoon of Sept. 26. While there, another woman walked close to her cart before leaving “in a hurry,” the shopper told police. The shopper contacted her bank, which found a series of charges, including one for $7,945 from Louis Vuitton, and blocked future charges.

The shaving cream vandal struck again over the weekend, this time spraying the stuff around the interior and exterior of the men’s restroom in the Reutershan parking lot downtown Saturday night.

A dog had been barking on and off in a fenced-in backyard for four days, a Springs-Fireplace Road neighbor reported on the night of Oct.15, adding that the house appeared to be empty and abandoned. Police went to the property and found a large black-and-white husky, “whimpering and shivering.”
