Four Charged With D.W.I.

Thu, 08/25/2022 - 13:47

Four men were charged with driving while intoxicated on local roads over the past weekend.

Anibal Perez-Mora of East Hampton, 49, made a signal-free right-hand turn off Miller Lane onto Indian Hill Road in East Hampton at around 3 a.m. Friday, according to East Hampton Town police, who stopped his black 2022 Nissan on Indian Hill. Mr. Perez-Mora failed field sobriety tests, officers said, and was charged with misdemeanor D.W.I., a first offense.

At about 7 p.m. on Friday, police said they'd seen Rafael Rivas-Zendejas of Springs, 22, driving a 2022 GMC on Springs-Fireplace Road, and "failing to slow down while approaching an emergency vehicle." He almost rear-ended another car, they said, as they were both turning into North Main Street, where he then reportedly passed a vehicle on the left before being pulled over. He consented to a blood-alcohol test and wound up charged with first-offense misdemeanor drunken driving.

At around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, Matthew R. Roberts of Riverhead, driving west on Montauk Highway in Amagansett, was observed crossing the double-yellow lines, according to police, as he executed "a wide right-hand turn" onto Oak Lane. Mr. Roberts, 32, who was convicted of a previous D.W.I. offense within the past 10 years, failed all sobriety tests, police said. He stands charged with a class E felony.

Last Thursday, Benjamin P. Connors of East Hampton, 24, was northbound on Springs-Fireplace Road at around 1:30 a.m. when his white 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser struck a speed-limit sign near the corner of Sycamore Drive. He agreed to the blood-alcohol test and wound up charged with aggravated drunken driving; police said the test produced a reading twice that of the legal level.   T.G.
