Three motorists were charged this week with driving while intoxicated, all three charges first-offense misdemeanors.

East Hampton Town police spotted Thomas Lukacovic of New York City headed north in the southbound lane of South Essex Street in Montauk on Friday and stopped his red 2003 Jeep at about 2 a.m. He was charged after allegedly failing roadside sobriety tests and held for arraignment later that morning.

On July 10, after reportedly fleeing a domestic incident, Arnold Phelps of Medford was pulled over at about 5 p.m. on Montauk Highway in Amagansett. Police said his 2010 Nissan had been swerving, and that he performed poorly on the field tests. He was held overnight for an appearance in Town Justice Court the next morning.

Christian Edwin Lojavilla of Wainscott was westbound on Route 27 in Montauk, near the Old Montauk Highway intersection, when, he told police, he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree, early on the

morning of July 9. Police found him standing next to his badly damaged 2017 Ford and administered the sobriety test, which Mr. Lojavilla reportedly failed. He will appear in Justice Court at a future date.
