Crash Briefly Closes Eastbound Montauk Highway in Water Mill

Update, Monday, 12:30 p.m.: Eastbound Montauk Highway in Water Mill reopened at approximately 10:30 a.m. Monday following a crash involving a motorcycle, according to Lt. Susan Ralph of the Southampton Town Police Department. Injuries were minor, she said.

Original, Monday, 10:23 a.m.: Eastbound Montauk Highway is closed in Water Mill as of about 10:20 a.m. Monday morning while police and other emergency personnel respond to a crash involving a motorcycle.

Police have closed the road between Hayground Road and Mecox Road, according to Lt. Susan Ralph of the Southampton Town Police Department. As first responders are still on the scene, she said she had no additional information about injuries or the cause of the accident just yet.

A detour is in place until further notice, Lt. Ralph said, and westbound Montauk Highway is still open. More information will be released as it becomes available.
