Cars Were Slip-Sliding Away

Thu, 02/18/2021 - 12:16

Severe weather caused many a slip-and-slide on local roads last week, though no injuries were reported.

Early in the week, on Feb. 8 and Feb. 9, cars were at the mercy of ice on Montauk Boulevard near Hildreth Place in Springs; at the intersection of Accabonac Road and Collins Avenue in East Hampton, and on Abraham's Path near Asa's Path in Amagansett, all in late afternoon or evening.

Later in the week, on Friday in Northwest, Dongan Way near Augie's Path proved treacherous for drivers, as did the intersection of Eli Brook to Hand's Creek Road. On Sunday, a driver lost control in a private parking lot on Muir Boulevard near Old Fireplace Road in East Hampton, as did another at Van Scoy's Path and Hand's Creek Road, Northwest.

On Feb. 10, a deer caused a two-car collision in Montauk, on Flamingo Avenue near Fleming Road. The week's other car-deer collision also happened in Montauk, Sunday night on Montauk Highway by Second House Road.
