Used Mop Handle; Hit Screen

Thu, 05/23/2019 - 06:26

Ines G. Quito-Romero, 35, was inside her East Hampton home on Oakview Highway when she reportedly hit her child’s father, with whom she had a custody dispute, in the face with a mop handle on Friday at about 3:20 p.m. The strike caused a severe laceration, bleeding, and significant pain, the arrest report said. The man, whose name was not released, needed 18 stitches.

Ms. Quito-Romero was charged with assault in the second degree, a felony, and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor. Justice Lisa R. Rana arraigned her the next day and released her on $500 bail.

A dispute over the cost of repairing a computer led to an arrest in Sag Harbor Village last Thursday. Pascal Zugmeyer, 47, of Southold was charged with criminal mischief in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor.

Police said he was working as the food and beverage manager at Baron’s Cove on Jan. 19 when he punched a computer screen in frustration. While he was willing to pay for its repair, the amount could not be agreed on. A Baron’s Cove property manager told police the equipment was worth $1,500. Mr. Zugmeyer, who has since been fired, was released on $250 bail. He will be arraigned in Sag Harbor Village Justice Court at a later date.
