Thu, 05/23/2019 - 06:33

A Sag Harbor woman and her passenger were arrested Sunday after she was stopped for alleged drunken driving, Sag Harbor Village police said.

According to police, they saw a 2018 Honda sedan heading south on Hampton Street at about 5 a.m. when the driver failed to dim her headlights for oncoming traffic. Police stopped Zoe Lindstrom-Ives, 26, in front of 14 Harbor Avenue and reported that she was in an intoxicated condition and performed poorly on field sobriety tests.

Meanwhile, her passenger, Damien A. Roman, 45, of East Hampton kept reaching under the front passenger seat, according to the police report,  in which Officer Michael Labrozzi said he had told Mr. Roman to stop several times before removing him from the car and detaining him.

During the police search, two clear envelopes were found of a white powdery substance that later tested positive for cocaine. One was in the driver’s wallet and the other under the passenger seat, where Mr. Roman was sitting.

The driver was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and she and Mr. Roman were both charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, also misdemeanors. They were released on their own recognizance.

In other arrests this week, Paul T. Petty, 25, of East Hampton was arrested after allegedly disobeying a court order. Mr. Petty was the passenger, police said, in a 2002 Dodge that drove by a person who has an order of protection against him on Saturday at about 3:50 p.m. At police headquarters after his arrest, an officer found a small bag of marijuana in his backpack. He was charged with criminal contempt in the second degree, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Justice Lisa R. Rana released him on his own recognizance.
