Amagansett

Joshua P. Kouffman of East Hampton lost his black snowboard jacket with a brown hood at the Stephen Talkhouse in the early morning hours of Thanksgiving. Worth $400, it was taken off the coat rack between midnight and 3 a.m. When he filed the report on Nov. 23, he said he did not see anyone take it. 

East Hampton

A custom transom window disappeared from a house under construction on Springwood Way between Sept. 27 and Nov. 19. Jason LaGarenne told police on Nov. 19 the triangular-shape window with a wooden frame is worth $2,500. Police contacted a suspect, and the window was returned the following day. The case was closed.  

After a renter moved out of a room leased from Irene Foster on Oct. 31, she noticed a Sylvania television missing. The flat-screen TV was worth about $280. She said she did not want to press charges as long as it was returned — and it was. 

Luis N. Rea of Springs called police to Indian Hill Road on Nov. 22 at about 5 a.m. after he was hit in the face during a house party. He and the man who hit him had been drinking. He was not injured, refused medical attention, and did not want to pursue charges.

East Hampton Village

Police were informed about a man and a woman who seemed to be loitering at several places last week. They first were called to the East Hampton Post Office on Gay Lane on Nov. 28 at about 4:50 p.m. The couple were gone when police arrived. The following day, Thursday, police were called again. The pair appeared to be preparing to sleep in the post office lobby at about 6:10 p.m. When an officer spoke to them, they said they were just keeping warm for a few minutes and were preparing to leave shortly. Police were back to the post office on Friday, at about 11:30 p.m. The same pair were sleeping inside the post office and this time they said they were homeless. They were advised they could not sleep there, and left. However, the same couple was found sleeping at the East Hampton train station on Newtown Lane on Saturday at about 2 a.m. The man was highly agitated, police said. 

A 55-year-old intoxicated woman was found drinking a bottle of sake on the front lawn of the East Hampton Ladies Village Improvement Society on Main Street on Saturday at 1 p.m. Police escorted her home and turned her over to the care of her brother.

The manager of the J. Crew store on Main Street called police after she found an empty gas can on top of the store’s Dumpster at the back of the store on Sunday at about 7:15 p.m. She was concerned because there had been a large fire at the store in the past. Police said there were no suspicious activities and took the empty gas can. 

Montauk

Burton Prince of Montauk reported fraudulent charges on his debit card for Uber rides on Nov. 22 and Nov. 23.  He told police on Nov. 27 he was in touch with his bank and has been reimbursed. 

 Springs

Dawn Marie Hagen went to police headquarters to report a possible case of identity theft last Thursday. She said she received an automated call a day earlier at 5:30 a.m. from a Rite Aid Pharmacy in Bativa, N.Y., about a prescription being ready. Ms. Hagen said she had never been to Bativa. She contacted the medical center from which the prescription supposedly came and her insurance broker about the possible fraud.
