On Halloween, Jerry P. Keller was watching television in his house on Old Stone Highway when a pumpkin was thrown through his living room window, landing at 7:40 p.m. He looked out the window, but did not see anyone or any vehicles. The cost to replace the window was about $800, he said. 

East Hampton Village

Police assisted a lockdown drill at the John M. Marshall Elementary School on Gingerbread Lane on Nov. 13 at 9:40 a.m. 

A woman asked for help removing a pigeon that flew into her store at 66 Newtown Lane on Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. 

The East Hampton Library turned a slew of items like calculators, keys, watches, and bracelets, which had been in its lost-and-found area for more than a year, to police, who are keeping it locked up. 

A bag containing three stainless steel chef’s knives was stolen from a Nissan Sentra while it was parked in the Reutershan and Schenck parking lots on Nov. 14 between 1 and 3:50 p.m. An East Hampton woman who filed the larceny report last Thursday said they were worth $370. Detectives are investigating. 

An East Hampton woman told police she attempted to purchase eight days’ worth of parking in the long-term parking lot on Lumber Lane on Friday afternoon. She said she inserted $35 of the $40 necessary in cash, but the machine did not allow her to enter the remaining money. She then tried to cancel the transaction, but could not retrieve the cash. Police told her to contact Village Hall on Monday to rectify the situation. 

After receiving several automated phone calls from a telemarketer claiming to be Apple, an 80-year-old Meadow Way resident phoned police Saturday. She said she was not able to get a live person on the phone and was not able to obtain the incoming number because she did not have caller ID. 

Wainscott

Mary F. Brennan of East Quogue said she left her iPhone 7 on the counter near the register at HomeGoods on Montauk Highway on Oct. 30 at about 12:20 p.m. When she realized she did not have her cellphone, she went back to the store but could not find it. Her husband tracked the iPhone on Leeton Road between Atlantic Avenue and Dolphin Drive in Amagansett. Police said they would canvass the area. The phone will cost nearly $1,000 to replace. 

On the Police Logs 11.27.25

A Barry Lane, Springs, man told police that someone claiming to be from Amazon had called him in regard to a $996 charge on his account for an iPhone 16. When he said he didn’t have an Amazon account, he was transferred to someone who identified himself as a Social Security employee, accused him of money laundering, and told him to expect a call from Nassau County police.

Accused of Stealing Wipes

A homeless 22-year-old was arrested last week in Montauk, accused of stealing a package of wipes from the Montauk I.G.A. after having been being notified the week before that he was no longer allowed on the premises.

Police reported only one accident on local roads recently that resulted in an injury, which happened on Nov. 11 in Montauk, after midnight.

Five-Day Sentence for 2023 Graffiti That Unnerved Montauk

A 76-year-old Montauk man was sentenced to five days in county jail, followed by three years of probation, for spray-painting swastikas and antisemitic phrases around the hamlet in late 2023.
