East Hampton

A man in light-colored clothing who was wearing a mask and gloves was seen on a Nest camera entering a property on Grassy Hollow Drive on Sunday at about 3:15 a.m. He soon ran away. Joseph DeVita, a private chef  who lives there, contacted police after the homeowner notified him.

East Hampton Village

Police were called to Stop and Shop on Newtown Lane when its alarm went off on Christmas Day at about 5 a.m. A person with the building’s keys wanted an officer there while entering the building. No burglar was inside.

An anonymous caller reported an intoxicated female on Main Street on Dec. 26 at about 9:45 p.m. Police did not find her.

Springs

Ronald Balcuns called police to his Copeces Lane house on Dec. 22 at about 12:30 a.m. to report he had been receiving harassing phone calls and voice-mail messages since noon the previous day. He did not wish to pursue charges, but asked police to speak to the person contacting him. They did so at about 1:15 a.m.

Vincente E. Tejedor, who lives on Three Mile Harbor Road, told police on Dec. 20 he was being harassed through Facebook Messenger by a man in Ecuador. The man contacted him on Nov. 29 and said he would come to America and kill him. (Mr. Tejedor has been in a relationship with the man’s wife for several months.) Mr. Tejedor believes the man made similar threats against his wife, too, but she has not told him about it. The Ecuadorean stayed at Mr. Tejedor’s house on Three Mile Harbor Road while visiting East Hampton in early November, so he is concerned that the man threatening him knows where to find him if he returns to this country.

Deep tire tracks were found on the baseball field at Maidstone Park on Saturday. It appeared someone had driven around the field in a circle. The East Hampton Town Parks and Recreation Department was notified. It was not clear how much repairs would cost.

Wainscott

A fraudulent check in the amount of $1,900 was cashed from Joann V. Svanberg’s BNB account on Dec. 21. Ms. Svanberg put a hold on the check and closed the account, police said.
