Alexander Michael Colonna

Tue, 12/30/2025 - 13:25

Paid Notice: Alexander Michael Colonna was born in Manhattan in 1950. Throughout his life he lived in many different places, moving from New York City to New Jersey in his youth, spending several years in Colorado, and eventually settling on the East End of Long Island, a place he had come to know as a child thanks to his great-grandfather.

He passed away on Dec. 17.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend.

Alex loved his family and friends with a fierce and unwavering passion, and they were always at the center of his life. He especially cherished time spent with his grandson, whether they were together at home or outdoors.

Alex found joy in many simple and meaningful things — playing the guitar, fishing, kayaking, caring for dogs and sharing stories. He was a gifted storyteller, with a way of making people laugh, listen, and feel connected.

Alex was mechanically and intellectually gifted and possessed a youthful, adventurous spirit. He worked for many years in the automotive industry as a skilled mechanic and diagnostician, and eventually became the owner of the Amagansett Mobil station in the '80s. He later became a bayman and general contractor. He was also a dedicated member of the Dory Rescue Squad in Amagansett.

Alex is survived by his wife Constance, his son Anthony, daughters Anna and Alexandra, grandson Griffin, and brother Peter. His strength, generosity, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
