Unable to make bail of $10,000, a Springs man charged with felony drunken driving has been in the county jail since Saturday.

A Deer Park man recently paroled from a state prison has spent the past few days in county jail following a domestic incident at the Royal Atlantic Hotel in Montauk.

A Springs man was charged with driving while intoxicated Sunday afternoon after his 1998 Ford pickup crashed into a tree on Abraham’s Path in Amagansett, near Thomas Avenue.

Jose T. Galos, 21, reportedly told East Hampton Town police he “was trying to make the turn and hit the tree.” He had significant swelling near his left eye, and was flown to Stony Brook University Hospital, a number-one trauma center, as a precaution.

The driver of a Jeep that was behind the pickup told police Mr. Galos had gotten out after the crash and was stumbling in the road.

A Montauk woman, dining at Simply Sublime, a food shop on Springs-Fireplace Road, was targeted there by an angry ex-boyfriend on the afternoon of Jan. 21. Macarena Ramos told police she had met him there to return an iPod he had given her some time ago. He arrived at the shop with another man, who, she said, dumped a noxious liquid on her. The men then drove away.
