Shakespearian Challenge

    Springs

    May 14, 2014

Dear Editor,

I am a sixth grader and I recently participated in the Shakespearian Oratorical Challenge at Springs School. I would like to state that even though all the participants who performed soliloquies did very well, it was only the tip of the iceberg of what Shakespeare has written.

From my experience I can’t wait to read or (better yet) see more of Shakespeare’s tragedies and comedies.

Bees Are Vital

    Amagansett

    May 9, 2014

To the Editor,

Thanks to Mary Woltz for her wonderful words about bees and dandelions. Everyone should hear what she has to say. Bees are vital to us for the services they provide of pollinating the flowers of plants we depend on for food, yet we damage their health and threaten their survival with our indiscriminate use of pesticides and herbicides to keep our lawns free of what we call weeds. Lawns don’t feed us.

Excitement of Art

    Springs

    May 4, 2014

Dear Editor,

We are proud to be members of the staff of the little school that could, Springs School. We recently were involved in the biggest fund-raiser the school or probably any school in this neighborhood has ever witnessed, the Mystery Art Show. It not only raised money for the Visiting Artist program, but it also energized an entire community around the excitement of art and its potential to inspire.

Dandelions and Bees

    Springs

    April 10, 2014

Dear Editor,

Hello, my name is Matthew Lester, and I am a ninth grader at East Hampton High School. I am also currently a Life Scout in B.S.A Troop 298.

Spring has arrived, which means that the bees will be looking for food so they can make honey. Most people don’t know that one of the important springtime food sources for pollinating insects are dandelions. Many people think of dandelions as prolific pests, but they really do have an important function.
