The Southampton Town fire marshal investigating the cause said that between the size of the residence and the way it had been built, the fire proved difficult to put out, with pockets of flames popping up from behind walls well into the evening.
Linda James, chairwoman of East Hampton Town’s energy sustainability and resiliency committee, announced her resignation at the close of the committee’s Dec. 18 meeting. In the new year, Ms. James, of East Hampton Village, will join the advocacy group Renewable Energy Long Island as an associate.
LTV, East Hampton’s local access television offering government, public, and educational programming, was recognized last Thursday on the 35th anniversary of its incorporation by the East Hampton Town Board.
Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele Jr., State Senator Kenneth P. LaValle, and other state and local officials attended the East Hampton Village Board meeting on Friday to pay tribute to Mayor Paul F. Rickenbach Jr., who will be resigning on Tuesday, more than six months before his term is up.
