Not a week goes by when I don't have a patient encounter in which someone asks for my professional opinion about what ails them and we disagree to some degree about what that is. Patients live in their bodies every day, and when a doctor tells them something that doesn't fit their lived experience, they understandably may want a second opinion or at least for their doctor to spend more time explaining his or her reasoning to them.

Dustin Reynolds has traversed much of the world alone in his 1983 Bristol 35.5c sailboat and arrived in Montauk for the first time on Friday. To say he has made the journey single-handedly is at once literal and figurative. Mr. Reynolds lost his left arm and his left foot in a 2008 motorcycle accident, caused by a drunken driver, that nearly claimed his life.
