Stony Brook Southampton Hospital announced Tuesday that it has now earned certification as a Level III trauma center in both adult and pediatric medicine from the American College of Surgeons. 

In celebration of its 30th anniversary, Bay Street Theater will hold a series of outdoor fund-raising dinners through the late spring and summer. Tracey Mitchell, the executive director, and her husband Blaze Makoid, an architect, will host one featuring a performance by Richard Kind, an actor, at 7 p.m. on June 10 (rain date June 11). The cost is $2,500 per person, and only 28 seats are available. 

the Amagansett Citizens Advisory Committee tackled the subjects of litter and the profusion of signs when it met this week. The town should "rip out" the signs, one woman said of those at the beach. "If it looks nicer, people might treat it nicer."

Carole Ann George, familiar here from her jobs at the I.G.A. markets in Amagansett and East Hampton, died of cardiac arrest at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond, Va., on March 8. She was 73 and had been ill for two years.
