On the Legacy of East Hampton's Nature Trail

Next up in the East Hampton Library’s Tom Twomey series is “Trailblazing Women: The Legacy Behind East Hampton’s Nature Trail,” a talk on Thursday at noon by Julie Sakellariadis, a member of the New York Botanical Garden’s board and a member and former president of the Garden Club of East Hampton.

Ms. Sakellariadis will discuss the women botanists and horticulturalists who helped shape the Nature Trail here since the late 19th century, beginning with Anna Murray Vail, who was the Botanical Garden’s first librarian.

Call ‘Flesh Eating’ Alarmist

The Vibrio vulnificus “flesh eating” bacterium “is not unusual in warm saltwater or brackish environments and does not necessarily indicate pollution or a widespread public health emergency,” the Southampton Town Trustees said in an advisory issued following a social media post that went viral.
