Juneteenth Festivities in East Hampton

Wed, 06/19/2024 - 07:05

Juneteenth, the holiday marking the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States, has long been celebrated by African-Americans, but since becoming a federal holiday three years ago, Juneteenth has become an opportunity for broader celebration. Here in East Hampton, that celebration will take the form of a family festival in Herrick Park on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There will be speakers, live music by Joe Delia and Friends, activities for children including a bounce house, food, and vendors.

Down the road in Wainscott, LTV Studios will host a Juneteenth party and benefit for the Eastville Community Historical Society at 6 p.m. Dress code: wear your finest white attire. There will be a gospel performance by Antoine Hilton, a singer, songwriter, and producer, as well as dancing, art vendors, spoken word, and sets by D.J. Imfmatic. Tickets cost $75 each and are available to be purchased online at ltveh.org.
