Petition Asks Town to Reopen 'Home Exchange'

Thu, 03/30/2023 - 09:42
East Hampton Town residents should have the opportunity to pass on unwanted household items to people who can use them rather than just throwing them out, a new petition says.

"Please reopen the Home Exchange located at East Hampton Town Recycling Center as soon as possible," asks a new online petition created this week on Change.org by Carin Constant.

East Hampton shut down the popular spot during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic as a safety measure, but some in town are hoping it can be reinstated.

"During these recessionary economic times with rampant inflation, the Home Exchange . . . provides economic relief for many town residents," Ms. Constant wrote.

The petition can be found at this link.
