The Springs Citizens Advisory Committee is sponsoring a forum on drinking water quality at 6 p.m. on Monday at the East Hampton Library.

Jason Hime, a principal public health engineer and chief of the Suffolk County Health Department's office of water resources, and Theodore Aponte, the Suffolk County Water Authority's outreach coordinator, will be the speakers.

Mr. Hime will discuss emerging drinking water contaminants and associated regulations, as well as a private well survey in the area of Springs-Fireplace Road that detected certain contaminants at levels above what is considered safe for drinking water. Mr. Aponte will talk about the sources of public water in Springs, how the water authority monitors contaminants and treats impacted wells, and where public water mains are located in the hamlet and how to connect to them. Both will take questions after their presentations.

The forum will be filmed by LTV for later viewing.

Really, really big.
