Paul Roman, a private chef based in Montauk with extensive restaurant experience in New York City and on the East End, returned recently from Zihuatanejo, Mexico, where he had been invited to cook in that city’s seventh International Paella Fest. He and his friend Jean Pascal, the chef at Mi Jardin in Troncones, Mexico, were among the 25 to 30 chefs, restaurants, and hotels that took part in the event, which was attended by some 450 people.

Mr. Roman has been the executive chef at Fraunces Tavern and Cafe des Artistes in Manhattan, at the Laundry in East Hampton, and at the Montauk Yacht Club, Gurney’s, and After Fishing in Montauk. In addition to his private chef work, he is working now with several caterers, among them Hampton Clambake and Food and Company.

Beach Hut to Stay on Main

East Hampton Village announced this week that the current occupant of the village-owned concession at the Main Beach pavilion, Susan Seekamp’s Beach Hut on Main, won the bid to continue operating for five more years.
